Tunnel Washers
Tunnel Washers for the Food & Beverage Industry
Sani-Matic Tunnel Washers provide consistent, repeatable cleaning results for a variety of items. The basic design provides detergent and final rinse zones. Pre-rinse and recirculated rinse zones may be added for heavy product residues or high capacity requirements. Sani-Matic Tunnel washers are simple and efficient to reduce labor costs, minimize chemical usage, and lower water and utility costs while providing you with cleaning confidence.
Tunnel Washer Applications include:
Dairy/Beverage/Brewery/Bakery/Confectionary/Distilleries/ Meat & Poultry/Snack Foods/Sauces/Slurries
Tunnel Washer Equipment cleaned:
Pallets/Freezer Spacers/Slip Sheets/Distribution Trays/ Totes/Buckets/Barrels/Molds

Tunnel Washers - How They Work
Tunnel Washers for the Food & Beverage Industry
General Tunnel Washer Operation
Three section Tunnel Washers (detergent wash, recirculated rinse and final rinse) are the most commonly requested designs, however, the use of a pre-rinse section may be required depending on product residues, sanitation requirements, and desired throughput rate.
Operational overview of a 4-section washer:
- Soiled product containers are conveyed through the Pre-Rinse (PR) section to loosen and flush off heavy particulates.
- The Detergent Wash (DW) section loosens and sprays off the remaining product residue.
- The Recirculated Rinse (RR) removes most of the residual detergent solutions from the product containers.
- The Fresh Water Rinse removes the remaining detergent film.
Note: Final Rinse (FR) water overflows into Recirculated Rinse (RR) and then overflows into Pre-Rinse (PR) to conserve water.
