Position Title: GTA Welder/Fabricator
Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of a GTA welder is the welding and fabrication of thin gauge stainless steel products such as tanks, frames, components, and sanitary tubing.
Essential Qualifications:
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Ability and willingness to follow directions as well as the ability to work independently.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Positive attitude.
Education and/or experience: HS education plus 3-5 years experience with stainless steel GTA welding. GMA welding experience a plus. A written test and a welding test will be administered as part of the application process.
Job Duties:
- Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
- Examine work pieces for defects, and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
Work Context:
- The use of safety equipment such as safety glasses, shoes, gloves, helmets and hearing protection is utilized daily.
- This position requires continual use of your hands, considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials, exposure to certain contaminants and exposure to loud noise levels.
- This is a 40 hour per week job with occasional mandatory overtime.
